Mississippi Spoon Gallery in Davenport, Iowa

This plush velvet holds a series of spoons from Great Britain.

More than 10,000 polished spoons hang in a place of honor in this most unusual gallery in Davenport, Iowa. More than 35 years ago, owner and curator Cammie Pohl received a set antique spoons from her great-grandmother. It became the start of a lifelong obsession, resulting in a collection in of rare utensils from all over the world.

Among the highlights here are spoons from the Chicago World's fair of 1893 and 1933, spoons designed for both the U.S. Army and Navy, spoons from the Iowa State Fair, and spoons for Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II's. Perhaps most visually striking is the "spoondelier," a chandelier made of gleaming tableware hanging from the ceiling.
