Agios Isidoros in Leros, Greece

Agios Isidoros on Leros

On the island of Leros, the chapel of Agios Isidoros stands on a rock in the sea, some 50 meters from the coast. A small footpath connects the tiny whitewashed chapel to the land. The church is a simple building. Inside, you'll find a few pieces of religious art hanging on the walls and an ornate part is the golden light fixture hanging from the ceiling.

Agios Isidoros is located in the Bay of Gourna, not far from the village of Kokkali. It was built on the site of an ancient temple, the remains of which can be seen behind the altar. In the waters around the chapel, more remnants of ancient buildings can be seen.

This is one of the best places on the island to view the sunset.
